Summary:
EBI mobilized to this natural gas generating station to assess the damaged caused by an unexpected failure at the transformer and develop a plan for necessary repairs.
Scope of Work:
- Opened GCB covers.
- Completed a visual inspection of the GCBs and determined areas of concern.
- Re-gasket and installed covers.
- Unbolted bushing sections and remove bushing sections.
- Removed first section of the GIB and replaced bellow supplied by others.
- Clean contact surfaces, replaced “O” rings and cleaned enclosure interior, then installed first section of the GIB.
- Cleaned contact surfaces, replaced “O” rings and cleaned enclosure interior, then installed Bushing section.
- Opened, cryogenically cleaned, and inspected insulators from the end of the new IPB sections back to the GCB, as well as openings allowed.
- Opened, cryogenically cleaned, and inspected insulators on the remaining IPB from the GCB towards the generator, as well as openings allowed.
- Silver plated the LV bushings on the replacement GSU.
- Opened, cleaned, and inspected the GCB, auxiliary transformer, exciter transformer, and the generator area.
- Cut and removed existing damaged IPB sections.
- Set the EBI supplied GSU IPB Turret Adapters.
- Set and aligned EBI supplied IPB sections.
- Welded EBI supplied conductors.
- Welded EBI supplied enclosures and shorting plates.
- Completed a DC Hi-Pot acceptance test of the IPB per IEEE standards from GSU to Isolated side of GCB.
- Installed EBI supplied braids and covers at the GSU.
